The Union County Bass Club prepares to host anglers from across the state at the Arkansas B.A.S.S. Nation state tournament.
It's Union County's time to shine in the Arkansas B.A.S.S. Nation, as the state chapter of this national organization brings its 46th annual tournament to the Ouachita River and Felsenthal National Wildlife Refuge on Friday and Saturday, October 27 and 28. As many as 250 anglers who have qualified through local bass clubs all around Arkansas will converge on El Dorado to test their skills over two days of rigorous competition.
Winners of the Arkansas State Championship Tournament will qualify to represent Arkansas in a Central Divisional Tournament made up of the best anglers from seven surrounding states. From there, they can advance to the National Championship Tournament, culminating with a trip to compete in the most prestigious Bass Tournament in the world, the Bassmasters Classic.
Official launch and weigh-in will take place at Crossett Harbor on Highway 82, with members of the Union County Bass Club volunteering with the administration of the tournament. The tournament, which rotates its location each year, could return to Union County in as little as three years, creating a fantastic opportunity for local outdoor enthusiasts and merchants alike.
