The South Arkansas Arts Center will host Corks and Canvas night with El Dorado artist Chrystal Osborn, pictured at right, on April 19, from 6 to 9 pm. Chrystal will guide attendees through the process of acrylic paint pouring that night to create a beautiful work of art.
Poured acrylics is a medium whereby acrylic paint is poured in puddles onto a canvas which is then manipulated to direct the paint wherever the artist wants it to go. These designs are mostly abstract in nature. Chrystal has been working with this medium for years, and adults seem to really enjoy the process. She stressed there is no pressure with this process. Anyone can do it, even people new to the art experience.
Chrystal said, "My art experience is from what I consider to be fun, not formal, training. Past art teachers, a friend's grandmother, my grandmother, and friends that are artists have been my inspirations. April 19, we will have a fun, light-hearted time learning about acrylic paint pouring and fluid art. I thought it would be a fun thing to show others during Corks & Canvas."
"Corks & Canvas" is an art class for non-artists who have always wanted to paint. Each class is conducted by a different art instructor, who takes the class through the step by step process to complete a work of art in three hours. The $40.00 fee covers all supplies and snacks. This class is limited to 12. Those taking the class should bring their favorite libation and get ready to have a good time.
