Movies On The River 2018

The City of Camden is bringing a bit of Hollywood magic back to South Arkansas with the return of Movies on the River, the award-winning, outdoor movie series at the Camden Riverwalk Amphitheater. This year, families will have even more time to grab their blankets, lawn chairs and coolers and enjoy the latest blockbuster releases on a double-sided giant screen with Theater Style Sound, all while taking in the splendor of the Ouachita River underneath a canopy of twinkling stars. The 2018 season of Movies on the River has been extended until late fall, with an amended schedule that accommodates youth athletic activities. For the Summer, movies will start at dusk — about 8:15 p.m. — each Friday from June 1 until August 17. Beginning August 25, the schedule will switch to Saturday. Admission is free. Moviegoers may bring water, soda and other treats. Vendors will also be onsite selling a variety of snacks. Launched in 2010, Movies on the River has drawn scores of local residents and visitors from throughout the region, including youth groups from churches and other youth-oriented programs and organizations. "There's been a tremendous response. It's been a great addition to the community, especially with us not having a movie theater in town," said Camden Mayor Marie Trisollini, whose office presents the event. "People call us each year asking about it from El Dorado, Union County, Arkadelphia — from all over," Trisollini said. Movies on the River won the bronze award during the 2017 ALFiE Awards, which were presented in February by the Arkansas Festivals and Events Association. The 2018 Movies on the River schedule is:
