On Saturday, October 27, 2018 The Camden Connections Foundation will be hosting the 2nd Annual Great Camden Chili Festival in downtown Camden. We are excited that this year’s event has grown to a family friendly event with the generous support of our Corporate Sponsors. There will be a large children’s area with multiple activities on the Farmer’s Bank parking lot, as well as live entertainment throughout the afternoon at Postmaster’s Grill.
Teams will set up on Washington Street early that morning to begin cooking their best chili recipes. Public tasting will begin at 2:00 pm. Admission is free, but tasting tickets will be sold to purchase chili and beverages at a central area. Takeout chili purchases will also be available. The winners will be announced on the patio of Postmaster’s Grill at 6:00 p.m. Prizes will be award to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place overall, a People’s Choice award, and a Showmanship Award for best booth presentation.
The Camden Connection Foundation is a non-profit 501c3 comprised of citizens from within Ouachita County. Our goal and purpose is to improve the quality of lives of the citizens of our county, as well as our visitors. The foundation is involved in creating and improving city trails, parks and playgrounds. Most notably, the foundation was an intricate part of designing The Trace, Camden’s newest multi-purpose trail.
Ouachita County has applied for a grant to create new area downtown at the location of the former library. The park will be named Three Oaks Park and will consist of a multi-purpose pavilion, landscaping, green areas, picnic tables as well as a Veteran’s Memorial. As with most grants, matching money is needed, so we are committing our fundraising efforts to facilitate this project. We envision an area that can be used for relaxation, socializing, a Farmer’s Market, a lunch or meeting area. The possibilities are endless.
Please join us as we bring our community together for an exciting day full of fun, great chili and entertainment.
